AZUSA -- Junior
Carter Griffin ran a personal-best time of 47.54 for first place in the 400 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational, held at Azusa Pacific on Friday.
Griffin, whose previous best 47.65 during last season, remains sixth-fastest in CPP history with his effort.
Senior All-American
Jonathan Williams placed sixth in the 100 (10.76) and placed third in the 200 and tied his personal best at 21.34. That effort was highlighted by Williams defeating Clay, who won the 2008 Olympic gold medal in the decathlon.
Sophomore
Jacob Deavers placed seventh in the 110 hurdles (14.88) and went on to finish eighth in the 400 hurdles (54.16).
Junior
Jose Marquez earned a personal-best in the 1500 at 4:00.56.
The women were led by senior
Tokunbo Adeniji, who placed fourth in the 400 in 55.73. She ran in a heat that included world-class sprinter Christine Ohuruogu of Great Britain, the defending Olympic champion. Ohuruogu won the event in 52.30.
Senior
Megan Emami placed fourth in the triple jump at 35-6 1/2.
