Senior All-American
Jonathan Williams earned the top preliminary times in the 100 and 200, and teammates
Carter Griffin and Jake Deavers earned top times in their respective events in Friday's CCAA Track and Field Championships.
The meet concludes with the finals at UC San Diego.
Williams ran the 100 in 10.67 seconds and the 200 in 21.38. He also placed third in the long jump (6.82 meter) as CPP stands in fifth place with 19 points.
Griffin ran the top time in the 400 (49.10) and had the fourth-fastest time in the 200 (21.88).
Deavers posted the top time in the 110 hurdles (14.85) and second in the 400 hurdles preliminaries (55.00).
Junior
Neil Macrorie placed fourth in the two-day decathlon with 6,234 points and senior
Michael Hernandez finished seventh in the long jump (6.67). Junior
Matthew Prentice placed fifth in the 10,000 in 32:34.83 and freshman
James Cox placed seventh in the shot put (13.75 meters) for CPP's 19 points.
The women posted 15 points on Friday with senior
Amanda Smith finishing sixth in the heptathlon and the trio of sophomore
Tramieka Thomas, Smith and senior
Megan Emami placing 5-7, respectively in the long jump.
Senior Riz Carrington placed sixth in the discus (40.09 meters).
