Travis Taijeron of the Brooklyn Cyclones has quickly become a fan favorite in the Big Apple.
In just his first year of professional baseball, Taijeron will be making a trip to the New York-Penn League All-Star Game. The contest will be held in Lowell, Mass., on Tuesday, Aug. 16 with first pitch set for 4:05 p.m. PST. The game will feature the National League Affiliates against their American League counterparts and it will be broadcasted online through the link at the top of this article.
The power hitter from San Diego, Calif., continues to rank atop the league's key statistical categories, including first in slugging percentage (.558) and second in runs batted in (38). In addition, Taijeron has collected the third-most home runs (8) and the seventh-most triples (4).
The 6-foot-2 outfielder has already been named the league's Offensive Player of the Week for July 25 through July 31. In that span he posted a batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage split of .435/.536/.913 with three homeruns, six RBI and two extra base hits in seven games.
Halfway through the season, Taijeron and the Cyclones are currently in second place in the NY-Penn League McNamara Division.
