POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball head coach
Greg Kamansky announced Tuesday that Jeremy Dennis has signed a national letter of intent to attend the university and join the Broncos' squad for the 2013-14 academic year.
A 6-foot-5 combo guard from Saint Mary's College High School in Berkeley, Dennis will be pursuing a Business Administration – Marketing major once arriving to the CPP as a freshman this fall.
“Jeremy is a very skilled and athletic guard,” Kamansky said. “His best basketball days are ahead here at Cal Poly Pomona and we're happy to have him on board. He fits the type of player and guard we look for each year.”
Under the leadership of Saint Mary's head coach Manny Nodar, Dennis and the Panthers' 2012-13 squad went 19-13 overall. Through those 32 games, Dennis averaged 16.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.5 assists.
With spectacular play during his junior and senior seasons, he became a two-time All-Tri County Athletic League First Team player and a two-time All-State Second Team selection. Dennis' most memorable high school games include a pair of 35-point performances against Mission High School of San Francisco and Berkeley Carroll School of New York.
Dennis also excelled in the classroom at Saint Mary's College High School as he received Honor Roll recognition seven times while also being a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.
When Dennis joins the Broncos for the 2013-14 season, he'll compete in a talented backcourt featuring All-American honoree
Terrence Drisdom and All-CCAA selection
DeRonn Scott. In other recruiting news for CPP, Kamansky announced the
signing of Quentin Taylor in November.
The memorable 2012-13 season featured plenty of firsts for the Broncos. In late February, Cal Poly Pomona secured its first-ever outright conference regular season crown. Earlier this month, the Broncos captured the program's first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships tournament title.
With the team's overall record finishing at 28-3 overall, that win total matched the program record set by the 2009-10 national championship squad.
