Competing in his final collegiate race Saturday, Cal Poly Pomona's Jacob Deavers placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles event of the NCAA Division II Track & Field National Championships with a career-best time of 51.75.

Deavers' finish landed him All-American recognition for the second-straight season. Saturday's stellar performance capped off a tremendous career for the senior from Lake Elsinore. His many achievements include 2011 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Athlete of the Meet for the conference championships and 2012 Male Co-Athlete of the Year for Cal Poly Pomona.

Saturday's mark of 51.75 also ranks third in the CPP record books, only trailing Adam Moore's 51.40 and Demetrius Cook's 51.74. Through the Broncos' track and field history, Deavers is the 13th male student-athlete to collect the All-American accolade in back-to-back campaigns. The last Bronco to accomplish the feat was Ian Enriquez, who earned All-American selection in 1999 and 2000 while starring in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event.
