After narrowly missing a trip to nationals in Colorado last year as a freshman, Justin Ellerbee is now guaranteed his first appearance at the NCAA Division II Championships after winning the conference's pole vault event Saturday with an automatic provisional and school-record height of 16-9.5. At this point of the season, Ellerbee's mark ranks within the top 10 nationally.

"In talking with assistant coach Jordan Savidge, he said that Justin was locked in and ready to go from the start of warmups," Gillespie-Bennett said. "To shatter the school record and get a spot at nationals, we're excited for him and also for what the rest of the team accomplished today."
