Cal Poly Pomona Athletics

On Sunday afternoon in Chico, Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer needed a goal and a savvy veteran delivered. Having gone scoreless through their last 229 minutes of action, the Broncos got a big overtime score from Alison Sauve to topple Chico State 1-0.

The winning play demonstrated Suave's determination as it took three chances to finally knock the ball across the line. She initially attempted an 18-yard shot that deflected off of a Wildcats' defender. Sauve then put a header on frame and the Chico goalkeeper saved it off the post.

Never giving up on the play, Suave capitalized on her third try of the sequence and sent the Broncos back to Southern California with a key victory. For Sauve, a junior midfielder from Simi Valley, this marks career goal No. 7 and the second of the game-winning variety.
