Cal Poly Pomona Athletics

Senior defender Jose Ortega led the 14th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team to two more wins last week as the Broncos defeated Chico State 2-1 and Cal State Dominguez Hills 2-0. CPP continues to rank No. 1 nationally in goals against average with a mark of 0.20. Ortega is the team leader in minutes with 923 this season, 146 more minutes than the player ranked No. 2 in minutes. As the defensive leader for the Broncos, Ortega has helped goalkeeper Fernando Pablo Quevedo rank first nationally in save percentage.

Ortega and the CPP men's soccer team will return to action Friday with a 12:30 p.m. home match against Cal State East Bay.
