Sophomore Sydney Yates put together a tremendous performance on Sunday, scoring twice to lead Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer to a 2-1 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay. Yates raised her season goal total to three while already matching her 2015 output. 

It took just 14 seconds for the Broncos to get on the scoreboard Sunday. Tori Tappero found Stephanie Rodriguez with a pass and after charging into the box, she slipped a pass across the six-yard area and Yates lined a shot into the back of the net. 

In the 20th minute, Yates put together another scoring opportunity. Stealing the ball away from the Otters, she dribbled just inside the top of the box and ripped a shot into the upper left corner as the Monterey Bay goalkeeper leapt unsuccessfully to her right.
