Scolinos Field
Scolinos Field is home to the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team. The facility holds 500 fans and is located adjacent to Kellogg Stadium, the Track & Field and Soccer complex. The facility is named after Cal Poly Pomona coaching great John Scolinos, who led the Broncos to three national championships (1976, 1980, 1983) and 817 wins during his 30-year tenure as the head coach. The Scolinos Field name dedication took place on February 11, 1980. Click HERE to view a gallery of the ceremony. Since its renaming, the Broncos own an all-time record of 687-461-8 (.598) at home.
Before its renaming in 1980, the facility was originally called Kellogg Field. The field dedication took place on February 16, 1968 in a scrimmage against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Al Campanis, then Vice President of the Dodgers, presented a dedicatory plaque to CPP President Robert Kramer and head coach John Scolinos.
Two numbers are retired on the outfield fence, #7 for John Scolinos, and #1 for current assistant coach Jimmy Ramos. Ramos completed his 42nd season with the program in 2025.
Scolinos Field has been the site of five NCAA West Regionals, taking place in 1976, 1979, 1980, 1983, and 1985. The Broncos won all five of those West Regionals, advancing to the DII College World Series and winning national titles in three of those five appearances. In total, the Broncos own a 15-5 record at Scolinos Field in the NCAA Tournament with a +53 run differential. In 2015, The Broncos hosted the West Regionals at Mazmanian Field in Walnut on the campus of Mt. SAC, as Scolinos Field did not yet have lights - which had become a requirement to host. Cal Poly Pomona won that regional as well, making them a perfect 6-for-6 in claiming a west region title every time they have hosted. In 2024, Scolinos Field was home to the CCAA Tournament, the first time the event was hosted at the facility.
Lights were installed prior to the 2016 season, allowing Scolinos Field to host future NCAA events. During the Summer of 2019, Scolinos Field went through Phase II of a three-phase project to upgrade the facility. Click HERE to see a video of before and after photos. In March of 2024, a permanent sound system was installed to improve the game environment for players and fans.
