PINEHURST, N.C. – The Basketball Times magazine has selected the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team ninth in its preseason Divison II poll.
There are four preseason polls conducted during the offseason and CPP has appeared in each one. The Broncos ranked ninth (The Sporting News), fourth (Division II Bulletin) and sixth (NABC) in the others.
The Broncos finished 2008-2009 as the NCAA finalists, losing to Findlay 56-53 in overtime in Springfield, Mass. They return first-team All-CCAA selection senior Austin Swift (10.2 points and 5.1 rebounds) and second-team choice junior Tobias Jahn (9.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 57.7 percent FGs).
Bellarmine earns the poll's top spot. BYU Hawaii is ranked second. Humboldt State was the only other CCAA school to break throught the top 25 at No. 8.
The Broncos open the 2009-10 season Nov. 21 at Westmont.
