CLAREMONT – The Cal Poly Pomona men's and women's cross country teams competed in the West Region preview meet Saturday, hosted by Pomona Pitzer.
The Broncos sent partial teams in competition.
Leading the way for the men was junior Victor Cuccia, who covered the 8,000-meter course in 26 minutes, 56.98 seconds and finished 20th.
Freshman Chris Vordahl placed 31st in 27:30.12 as the Broncos placed 6th with 180 points.
Sophomore Rene Vidal finished 49th (28:06.03) and rounding the Broncos' top five were: junior Alejandro Mendez, who finished 58th (28:15.45) and sophomore Luis Briseno, who placed 62nd (28:24.41).
Sophomore Clark Selters 71st, 28:51.04; senior Brian Roser 84th, 29:36.01; freshman Chris Lim 97th, 31:27.69 were the other Broncos who raced.
Only four women competed for CPP: freshman Johanna Murray, 61st 26:07.54; Julia Manzo 97th (28:29.17), Denise Lopez 105th (29:17.35) and senior Ayn Learn 115th (31:35.72).
Cal Poly Pomona next competes at UC San Diego on Saturday.
