POMONA—Bronco student-athletes Miguel Abascal and Tiffany Turner have been named the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Male and Female Athletes of the Month for October at Cal Poly Pomona.

The awards are voted upon by the student-based Bronco Athletics Association.

Abascal completed his soccer career by earning first-team All-CCAA honors. He scored six goals with six assists this season for the Broncos, who went 10-8-1 in 2009 – only the sixth winning season in school history. He ranks sixth in all-time goals (15), seventh in assists (10) and sixth in total points (40).

It is Abascal's first career Enterprise honor.

Turner (LaCrescenta) earned her second straight All-CCAA honor in cross country this fall. She placed sixth in the meet and led the Broncos to a third-place finish. She later placed 19th at the NCAA West Regional meet.

She established the school record last season for the Broncos in both cross country (6,000 meters) and track and field (3,000-meter steeplechase) and earned All-American honors in her specialty last spring at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in San Angelo, Texas.

The award is Turner's fourth in her career.
