HAYWARD
-- Sophomore Megan Ford scored a season-high 21 points to lead four Broncos in double figures as Cal Poly Pomona defeated host Cal State East Bay 68-59 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play Saturday night.

The Broncos snapped their two-game losing streak and improved to 13-4 overall and 10-3 in the CCAA. The Pioneers remained winless on the season, now 0-18, 0-13.

Junior Reyana Colson scored 15 points and senior Stephisha Walton scored 12 points with 17 rebounds -- her second straight double-double, fifth of the season and 10th in her two-year career.

Sophomore Rosslyn Beard scored 10 for CPP.

Both teams committed 28 turnovers apiece and CPP took advantage at the free-throw line, outscoring CSUEB 26-11.

Despite entering the game winless in their 17 games, the Pioneers played inspired ball in the first half and led by 10 – 32-22 – with 5:39 remaining.

That's when CPP kicked its game into high gear, outscoring the Pioneers 15-2 to close the half and led 37-34 at halftime.

Ford hit three field goals in that span and Colson chipped in five as CPP hit 12-of-28 shooting from the floor and 12-of-18 FTs in the first half.

After Colson hit a free throw to push CPP out front, 57-46 with 8:12 left, the Pioneers charged with a run of their own.

Emily Valenziano connected on a 3-pointer that cut CPP's lead to 60-57 with 2:55 remaining. But Beard answered right back with a 3-pointer and CPP closed out the game.

Valenziano scored a team-high 16 for the Pioneers and Marlene MacMillan had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Broncos return to the court Tuesday night when they play at Cal State San Bernardino. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
