Box Score: CPP vs. Sonoma State

POMONA
– Junior Reyana Colson kept her double-digit scoring streak alive at the most opportune time Friday night as Cal Poly Pomona edged past visiting Sonoma State 48-46 in California Collegiate Athletic Association women's play.

Colson drove into the lane and scored the game-winning layup with 23 seconds left for 11th point of the night. It marked her 34th straight double-digit game and the 56th time in her 62 career games.

Neither team shot the ball particularly well as CPP fired 29.1 percent (16-of-55), while SSU was 16-of-48 (33.3 percent). The game was tied five times with six lead changes.

Junior Stephisha Walton shared team-high scoring honors with Colson and teammates La'kenya Simon-West and sophomore Rosslyn Beard each scored 10 for CPP, now 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the CCAA.

Oly Larkin led the Seawolves (5-7, 3-4) with a game-high 17 points, but no one else scored more than seven.

CPP's largest lead of the second half arrived on Simon-West's 3-pointer, lifting CPP out front 46-41 with 3:08 left. The Seawolves stopped CPP defensively and tied the game after Larkin's free throws and a 3-pointer from Nadia Williams put the score at 46-46 with 2:07 left.

Each team committed two turnovers in the next minute and half.

Simon-West tried to give CPP the lead, but her 3-point effort was off with 33 seconds left. CPP got the ball and Colson drove inside and scored the game-winner.

SSU tried to go for the win, but Williams' 3-pointer with two seconds left was off.

CPP next plays host to Humboldt State on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
