LOS ANGELES -
Despite facing a 2-0 halftime deficit, the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team wasn't about to go down without a fight.

The Broncos scored 31 seconds into the second half and then tacked on two more scores to take a 3-2 lead. The Golden Eagles managed to net an equalizing score with one minute left in regulation and CSULA's Liz Franco collected the game-winning score in double overtime to complete her hat trick. The win secured the top seed for the Golden Eagles in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament, to be held next week in Turlock, Calif.

The Broncos finish the season at 7-8-3 overall and 5-8-3 in CCAA play, while the Golden Eagles move on to postseason play with marks of 14-3 overall and 13-3 in league action.

CSULA ended up shooting twice as many shots as CPP, 26-13, a stat that speaks to the magnitude of the comeback that the Broncos mounted in the second half.

The Golden Eagles struck first in the 14th minute, when Alex Conley registered her fifth goal of 2010 after receiving a pass from Ann Marie Tangorra. At the 30:04 mark, CSULA stretched its lead to 2-0 as Franco stole the ball from CPP and ripped a shot from just inside the top of the box. Heading into halftime, the Golden Eagles held the 2-0 advantage in goals and a 11-3 lead in shots.

The Broncos got on the board at 45:31, with Sarah Hanna lifting a shot over CSULA keeper Gabriella Batmani. It marked the first career goal for Hanna, who had received a pass from Valerie Strawn to initiate the scoring chance.

Less than four minutes later, CPP evened the score as a cross from Hanna found Justine Barclay, who headed the ball past Batmani for her fourth goal of 2010.

The score remained 2-2 until 79:55, when the Broncos pulled ahead with a goal from Jennifer Rivera. After receiving a cross from Britany Garrett, Rivera flicked the ball into the back of the net.

Franco came up clutch for the Golden Eagles though, knocking in the tying score at 88:59 on a rebound shot and the game-winning goal at 105:36 to clinch the conference tournament's top seed for CSULA.

In net for CPP on Sunday, Natalia Guevera played the first half while Sarah Rohman served as keeper for the remainder of the match. Both keepers ended the day with four saves.
