Video Salute to Kellie Hall
POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's volleyball team concluded its 2010 season on Saturday evening at Darlene May Gym. The Broncos suffered a 3-0 loss to Cal State East Bay in their finale.
Prior to the game, CPP honored the achievements of Kellie Hall as part of Senior Night. Saturday marked the 31st career match for Hall as a Bronco. The Covina, Calif., native is graduating with a degree in kinesiology.
With Saturday's loss, CPP wraps up 2010 with marks of 10-17 overall and 8-14 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play. CSUEB awaits selection into the NCAA Division II Tournament, as the Pioneers sit in a tie for second place in the CCAA standings.
Against CSUEB, the Broncos struggled on the attack and hit .072 as a team. Kristin McNeese and Ashley Marshman paced the CPP offense with kill totals of seven and six respectively. The Broncos showed strong blocking ability as CPP tallied 16 block assists, including five from Lindsey Poulos.
Sophomore Kitona Offord starred offensively for the visiting Pioneers. The Houston, Texas, native registered 15 kills while hitting at a .882 clip. That attack percentage set a new CCAA record, shattering the previous mark of .812 established by Cal State San Bernardion's Sara Rice in 2007.
With the 2010 season coming to a close, McNeese finishes as the team leader in kills with 283. Freshman setter Katie Colin ends the campaign with 939 assists, which lands her on the conference leaderboard among the top five.
Out of the 10 players that registered more than 50 games played in 2010, eight of those student-athletes are freshmen or sophomores, a statistic that counts in CPP's favor for the team's development heading into 2011.
