GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Junior Salvador Romero earned Cal Poly Pomona against one of the nation's best men's tennis programs in Brigham Young Hawaii, earning a 2-6, 6-4, 14-12 victory over Agnel Peter as CPP lost 8-1 to the Seasiders.

The Broncos are taking part in the three-day Presidents' Day Duals, sponsored by Grand Canyon University and the Paseo Racquet Club.

"That's a pretty good team that we faced today and we learned what it takes to play against top competition,'' Broncos coach Sandy Kriezel said. "The guys will bounce back. Salvador really played well against a kid he lost to in a tiebreaker earlier this year.''

CPP takes on Midwestern State at 10:00 a.m. MST Sunday.
