LOS ANGELES – The 2010 California Collegiate Athletic Association season opener could not have gone any better for Cal Poly Pomona, which defeated rival Cal State L.A. 9-0 on Thursday.
The Broncos improved to 2-1 overall as they prepare for a nonconference match at Division I Cal State Bakersfield. The Roadrunners have had a difficut past week and a half as the university announced women's tennis, along with wrestling and the golf programs will be cut at the conclusion of the 2009-10 academic year.
Freshman
Christie Lau remained unbeaten on the season at 3-0 as did junior
Jennifer Chow. The doubles team of Lau and
Kaitlin Wooldridge also are unbeaten at 3-0, but Thursday was the duo's first appearance at No. 2 doubles.
Cal State dropped to 0-2 and 0-2.
