BAKERSFIELD – Not an even a 90-minute rain delay stood in the way of success for the Cal Poly Pomona women's tennis team Sunday in its match against Division I Cal State Bakersfield.
The Broncos shut out the Roadrunners en route to a 7-0 victory and improved to 3-1 overall.
“The last two times out, we've played very well,'' Broncos coach Sandy Kriezel said. “We played with confidence and I was especially pleased that we didn't have any type of lag from the rain delay. We played determined and I liked that.''
The Broncos took two of three doubles matches to win the doubles point (the match was scored in Division I format). The No. 1 tandem of
Jennifer Chow and
Jackie Trendt earned an 8-4 victory and
Christie Lau and
Kaitlin Wooldridge won 8-2 at No. 2.
CPP won all five singles matches with Lau, Chow, Brady and Wooldridge winning in straight sets. Trendt earned a victory in the tiebreaker at No. 2 as did senior
