COSTA MESA -- A tough 5-4 loss to Vanguard left Cal Poly Pomona women's tennis coach Sandy Kriezel optimistic and pleased with where her team is at through one month of the 2010 season.
"We were tested today, and I thought we played very well,'' she said. "There were more than enough bright spots and I know that we're not that far away from making a few of those losses turn into wins.
"We've got crunch time coming up next week with some key matches and I think we're just about ready to turn the corner.''
The Broncos opened the day taking two of three doubles matches. Senior
Fallon Blattner and sophomore
Jackie Trendt earned a victory at No. 1 and freshman

Kaitlin Wooldridge were triumphant at No. 3.
Earning victories in singles play were Wooldridge at No. 4 in a match that Kriezel termed as "one of the best matches I've seen her play in her career.''
