ATLANTA -- Junior guard
Reyana Colson was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) State Farm Region 8 team for the second straight year, the coaches association announced Tuesday.
Colson, a Compton native, is one of 40 finalists in contention for the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America team.
The 5-foot-6 guard has been the leading player for the NCAA Tournament-bound Broncos, who play Alaska Anchorage on Friday in the opening round of the NCAA West Region Tournament. She leads the team in scoring (16.8 ppg) and also averages 6.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 2.6 assists a game.
In this week's CCAA rankings, she is 3rd in scoring, 5th in minutes played, 5th in defensive rebounds, 7th in steals, 8th FT percentage, 10th assists, 11th rebounds and 12th FG percentage.
Colson ranks 14th on the all-time CPP scoring chart with 1,240 points and is fifth in career free throws (361) and fifth in career free throw attempts (537).
She is a three-time All-CCAA guard and earned Honorable Mention All-American in last year's WBCA balloting.
Off the court, she is a two-time CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 8 first team honoree.
The State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team will be presented at the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Banquet.
