POMONA -- Cal Poly Pomona made certain its 3-match losing streak would come to an end Saturday, earning three doubles victories against Whittier for a 7-2 victory over the Poets in college men's tennis. at Kellogg Tennis Complex.
The Broncos, now 5-10 overall, face Occidental on Sunday and conclude the season Thursday at home against UC San Diego.
Salvador Romero,
Joshua Lau,
Keith Boggero and
Shane McNulty each earned two wins on the day.
Romero won 6-0, 6-2 in No. 2 singles and went on to team with
Kevin Singer to win at No. 1 doubles, 9-7.
McNulty earned a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles and matched up with
James Lee to earn an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
Lau and Boggero won at No. 2 doubles (8-4), while Lau earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and Boggero won a decisive 6-0, 6-3 match at No. 4.
