ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Sophomore Jenzen Torres was selected to the 2010 National College Baseball Writers Assocation (NCBWA) first-team All-West Region squad, the association announced Wednesday.

Torres was named to the first team as a utility player for CPP, which completed the season 26-27 overall and 18-22 in league play. The Valencia native hit .313 with 12 home runs and a team-leading 54 RBI -- the most for a Bronco in nine years. He split duty with 26 starts at first base and 24 starts behind the plate.

Torres is the only sophomore to make the first team.

To be eligible for the NCBWA Division II All-West Region teams, student-athletes must have been selected as either first- or second team all-conference this season. The selection panel for the NCBWA Division II all-region team is comprised of six baseball SIDs from  within the region -- the same panel that voted weekly for the NCBWA Division II regional polls during the 2010 regular season.
