Bronco basketball fans and Cal Poly Pomona students will see a new look inside Kellogg Gym when the school begins in late September.
The home venue for the Cal Poly Pomona basketball teams is receiving a "makeover'' this summer as work has begun on a conditioning project that includes a new court.
"It's been more than 20 years since there has been any kind of significant painting inside Kellogg Gym,'' said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Brian Swanson. "The facility receives a great deal of use during the year -- from our basketball teams, to health classes and intramurals -- and our student-athletes and fans will appreciate the difference.''
In addition to the conditioning project, a new hardwood basketball court also will be installed. The old court, installed in 1996, was home to three NCAA championship teams -- the 2001 and 2002 women's teams and the 2010 men's team.
Hur Flooring of Canoga Park is installing the Connor Sports Flooring "PermaFlex" system court.
The project is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 24 -- the first day of school.
