ROHNERT PARK
-- Any time a team plays on the road in the rigorous California Collegiate Athletic Association, you want to come away with a point.

And that's exactly what Cal Poly Pomona accomplished Friday afternoon in its 0-0 draw after 110 minutes of play against perennial CCAA North favorite Sonoma State.

The Broncos pushed their record to 2-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the CCAA opener for both teams.

"You want to come off the field with points on the road and we got that done today,'' said Broncos coach Isabelle Harvey, who has led her team to three consecutive shutouts to start the season for the second straight year. "It's tough to play well on the road in this league. I'm just so proud of the effort today because we found a way to get it done.''

The Broncos allowed just five shots on goal and freshman Sarah Rohman kept her team in the game with shutout play.

Junior Justine Barclay (Toronto), junior Jennifer Rivera (Hacienda Heights) and junior Callie Wilson (Riverside) each had shots on goal, but Seawolves keeper Courtney  Grixti also did the job with her three saves.

The defensive unit of seniors Britany Garrett (Lakewood), Stephanie Sandino (Diamond Bar) and Miya Quinn (Honolulu) along with sophomore Lauren Skachenko (Chino Hills) played big roles in stopping the Seawolves' attack.

"I can't say enough about the job they're doing,'' Harvey said. "They keep us in the game and keep everyone alert.''

The Broncos will play at Humboldt State on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m.
