POMONA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team picked up a convincing 80-57 home win over Cal State Stanislaus Friday, behind a season-high 20 points from
Megan Ford.
The Broncos improve to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, with the Warriors dropping to marks of 7-6 overall and 5-4 through conference play.

Reyana Colson and La'kenya Simon West added double-figure point totals, with 14, 10 and 10 respectively.
CPP used a tremendous rebounding advantage, 48-33, to gain plenty of second chances on the offensive end. Ford paced the Broncos with eight boards, while
Rachel Porter added a career-high eight as well.
Out of the gates, CPP sprinted out to a 6-0 advantage but the lead bounced back and forth for much of the opening period. Faced with a 21-21 score, the Broncos rallied for a 10-0 run late in the half, a stretch initiated with a couple of buckets from Ford.
The Broncos carried a 34-27 lead into the intermission, despite being outshot 42.9 percent to 32.5 percent. CPP combined to tally 21 offensive rebounds through the entire 40 minutes though, helping the home squad secure second opportunities.
Moving into the second half, the Broncos maintained their momentum and extended their advantage to 54-37 with about 10 minutes to go after a three-pointer from
Kaitlin Derby. With two treys on the night, Derby finished with six points to tie her career high.
It marks the second time this season that CPP has reached 80 points and the third-straight victory to start 2011.
The Broncos overcame a rough shooting night for Colson, who went 3-for-14 from the floor. Many of the misses came in the first half, as the senior guard shot 0-for-6 in the opening 20 minutes and closed the game by going 3-for-8. The Compton, Calif., native is closing in on several career milestones, as she currently has 1,469 points, 593 rebounds, 293 assists and 192 steals.
Charlene Popoff earned the starting nod and contributed a solid performance, racking up a career-high nine points, five rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes played.
Up next, the Broncos will challenge Chico State at home Saturday. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. The Wildcats dropped a narrow 61-56 decision on Friday, falling to Cal State San Bernardino on the road. CSUC now stands at 10-3 overall and 7-2 in CCAA play.
