SAN FRANCISCO –
The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team won its ninth-straight contest Saturday, as the Broncos defeated San Francisco State, 72-59, to close out the team's four-game road trip.

The winning streak of nine marks the longest stretch since CPP closed out the 2003-04 regular season with eight-consecutive victories and then opened the postseason with two more.

On Saturday in San Francisco, the Broncos were led on offense by Megan Ford, who totaled 18 points on 8-for-12 shooting while adding nine rebounds. The eight successful field goals marked a season high for the junior center.

Also in double figures for CPP were #J.J. Judge and Jennifer Bryant# setting new career marks of 13 and 10, while La'kenya Simon West added 13 as well.

"We didn't come out with the same focus and intensity as last night against Monterey Bay," interim head coach Danelle Bishop said. "We had some players step up though on offense, particularly J.J. and Megan. Overall defensively though, we have to do better than what we showed tonight."

Similarly to Friday's win over the Otters, the CPP attack found its rhythm Saturday from beyond the arc. Overall, the Broncos shot 9-for-19 (47.4 percent) from three-point range.

The two squads battled closely through much of the first half but CPP managed to pull away in the later stages of the period. The Broncos finished the half on a 13-2 run, a stretch that was capped off with a Kaitlin Derby three-pointer from the left corner just before the buzzer sounded.

As the second half opened up, CPP was able to extend its lead to 20 points when Sarah Semenero sunk a trey with 13:30 to play, putting the Broncos ahead 48-28.

The host Gators' squad didn't completely fade away though and rallied for their own run through the middle part of the closing period. SFSU managed to trim the lead down to single digits and push it as low as seven, 51-44, with 10:02 to play. That's as close as the advantage would get though as Ford, Judge, Simon West and Bryant continued to put up points for the visitors.

For the SFSU team, Dominique Hunter registered her 11th double-double performance of the season, finishing with 21 points and 13 rebounds on Saturday.

The contest marked the first time this season that the Broncos turned the ball over more than their opponent, with 17 for CPP and 15 for SFSU. The Broncos certainly made up for it with their shooting though, as they fired at a 51.9 percent clip as compared to the Gators' 40.8 percent mark.

Up next for CPP will be a four-game homestand starting with a Friday 5:30 p.m. contest against Cal State L.A.
