ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team stretched its conference road record to 4-0 on Saturday by defeating Humboldt State, 61-47, in Lumberjack Arena.

The Broncos now stand at 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, while HSU falls to 6-6 overall and 3-5 through conference play.

Three CPP players ended up in double figures Saturday, with Megan Ford and Reyana Colson tallying 13 apiece and #J.J. Judge# adding 10. Saturday marked the third time in the last five games that Judge reached the double-digit mark in points. All of the freshman's points Saturday came in the first half.

"J.J. wasn't missing in shootaround today and she came into the game with a hot hand," interim head coach Danelle Bishop said. "She filled her role nicely and helped jumpstart our offense."

Ford narrowly missed netting her ninth career double-double performance, as she tallied nine rebounds, including five on the offensive end. La'kenya Simon West collected a career-high 12 boards and added eight points on the evening.

The opportunistic Broncos' defense forced 21 Lumberjack turnovers. Colson, who tallied a career-best seven steals on Thursday at Sonoma State, registered four on Saturday in Arcata.

"It was a great team effort on defense," Bishop said. "We wanted to pressure their post players and I think it worked. The guards did a good job keeping pressure on too and rotating nicely. We have a lot to improve on still but it was a great result."

Despite the CPP attack shooting just 35.5 percent through the contest, the Broncos' defense held the host HSU squad to a 29-percent performance from the field. That mark for the Lumberjacks stands as the lowest for a CPP foe since Feb. 26, 2010 in a 46-42 home win over San Francisco State.

Despite facing a 7-5 deficit with roughly five minutes passed in Saturday's contest, the Broncos rallied for a 9-0 run that featured five points from Judge and four from Colson. Holding a 14-7 advantage at that point, CPP never gave up the lead.

The Broncos pushed the margin as high as 14 points in the opening half and went into the intermission up 35-24. HSU cut the advantage to 40-32 at the 14:51 mark during the second period, but an 8-0 stretch by CPP capped off with a layup from Rachel Porter built up the cushion once again.

With four minutes to play the Broncos pushed their lead to 20 but a late Lumberjack rally pulled the final margin to 11.

Charlene Popoff played a season-high 26 minutes in a reserve role, pulling down four offensive rebounds while adding two assists and a block.

For HSU in the losing effort, Kayla Williams finished with 11 points while Jeanette Dewitt pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds.

The Broncos will begin a three-game homestand on Friday when they host Cal State Stanislaus at 5:30 p.m. The Warriors are 7-5 overall and 5-3 in CCAA play.
