POMONA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team took a 1-0 lead into the 85th minute Friday but two late scores from Cal State Stanislaus gave the Warriors a 2-1 victory.

The result drops the Broncos to 7-3-3 overall and 5-3-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The Warriors improve to 6-3-4 overall and 5-3-3 through conference play. CPP stands in third in the South Division standings, while sitting in a tie for fourth overall in the conference with CSUS.

The Broncos got on the scoreboard first Friday, thanks to Nushin Tasbihchi notching her first career score for CPP. It came at the 22:38 mark, when Justine Barclay sent a pass up the line to Valerie Strawn. In the left corner, Strawn rolled a pass across the goalmouth and Tasbihchi tapped in a close-range shot at the far post to put the hosts ahead 1-0.

Despite being outshot 9-6 through the first 45 minutes, the Broncos applied most of the offensive pressure between the two teams in the opening period.

To start the second half, Jennifer Rivera came close to adding an insurance score for CPP. Receiving a pass at the top of the 18, Rivera ripped a shot that bounced off the right post and away from danger.

Although mostly off target in the first half, the Warriors' shots started to find the frame with more regularity in the final 45 minutes. In the closing 35 minutes actually, CSUS outshot CPP by a margin of 9-2.

A corner kick from Emily Relles set up the equalizing score for the Warriors at the 84:34 mark. The cross found Alisa Barlow, who sent a header past Broncos' goalkeeper Sarah Rohman.

With the momentum shifting, the visiting CSUS squad managed to tack on the game-winning goal with just 34 seconds remaining in regulation. Karli Nestler proved to be the hero for the visitors, knocking in the score with an assist going to Alexia Poon.

Up next for the Broncos will be a 2 p.m. match Sunday against Chico State. The contest at Kellogg Field will feature Senior Day festivities, which will start immediately before the women's game.

CPP's annual Pumpkin Festival is taking place this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and Oct. 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Farm Store, which is across the street from Kellogg Field and parking lots K and B. Because of the large crowds expected, fans going to Sunday's Senior Day ceremony are encouraged to arrive early.

To avoid parking in lots K and B, another alternative is to park in the garage structure toward the opposite side of campus and then walking south to Kellogg Field. To find the parking structure on Google Maps, type in this address: Oak Ln & Red Gum Ln, Pomona, CA.
