CARSON, Calif. - A 110-minute struggle between Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday ended in a 1-1 draw, creating a three-team tie for first place in the conference's South Division.

The California Collegiate Athletic Association's (CCAA) men's soccer action couldn't have gotten much better at Toro Stadium Friday night, with both squads playing tough. The Broncos now stand at 9-4-2 overall and 8-3-2 in conference play, while the Toros hold marks of 10-3-2 overall and 8-3-2 through league action.

The two teams went scoreless in the first half, with CSUDH outshooting the visitors 8-4 and CPP sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Todd holding strong with three saves.

Senior Boris Beta put the Broncos on the board at the 58:06 mark, receiving a slick pass by Fabian Perez and then drilling a shot from about eight yards out to the back of the net inside the near post. It marked the third score of 2011 for Beta, a mark that ties him for third on the team. Beta continued to put pressure on the Toros' defense and the Fresno, Calif. , native finished the evening with five shots.

The 1-0 advantage for CPP held up until the final stages of regulation. A long-distance shot from the Toros' Ryan Evans hit the crossbar in the 88th minute and then trickled across the line past Todd to even the score at 1-1.

The Broncos continued to dominate in time of possession and scoring chances through the overtime periods but neither team could capture the golden goal.

Up next, CPP will challenge Cal State L.A. for an 11:30 a.m. road match on Sunday. The Golden Eagles are the third team in the South Division's first-place tie with the Broncos and Toros.
