SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – With eighth-ranked Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino meeting Thursday in Coussoulis Arena, there would only be one undefeated team in the conference at the end of the night. Overtime extended the evening but in the end, the Broncos stood victorious.

A block from Terrence Drisdom turned away a last-second attempt from the Coyotes in regulation and the Broncos' offense continued its three-pointer barrage in overtime, as Mitchel Anderson delivered the go-ahead trey en route to his first career double-double.

CPP trailed by six points late in the second half but outscored CSUSB 28-13 the rest of the way, including 19-10 in the extra period, to secure the 85-76 comeback win. The Broncos now stand at 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), taking sole possession of first place and handing the Coyotes their first conference loss.

Anderson finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 10-for-20 from the field. The junior guard connected for two of the team's seven three-pointers, as the squad hit at a 50 percent clip from beyond the arc. Andrew Steel found his rhythm from that range, collecting three treys of his own and picking up a new season high of 14 points.

CPP went 8-for-8 at the free throw line as a team during overtime, including a 4-for-4 effort from senior guard Matt Rosser. Through the entire contest, Rosser sunk nine of his 11 attempts from the charity stripe and tallied 14 points in total.

The Broncos jumped out to an early 6-0 edge Thursday, helped with a couple high-percentage looks underneath for Dwayne Fells and Tyquan Brown to start the night. A 7-0 spurt for the Coyotes pulled the two teams even at 12-12 with Tre Brewer capping that run off with a three-pointer. Brewer finished the night with a team-high 21points.

Just past the midway point of the first half, the two teams traded the lead on back-to-back possessions. After breaking a 23-23 tie, the Broncos finished the half on a modest 12-6 run that featured a pair of fast-break opportunities converted with a Bob Brakeville layup and a Rosser dunk.

Carrying the 35-29 advantage into the second half, CPP thwarted a small run for the Coyotes as the margin fell to two but then bounced up to seven when Steel sunk a three-pointer for the Broncos at the 16:15 mark.

CSUSB came right back though with a 6-0 run, which included a pair of dunks by Kwame Alexander. Then Coyotes' senior Matt Wallace caught fire from beyond the arc, hitting a pair of three-pointers in less than one minute to put the hosts ahead 48-46.

The Broncos' defense tightened up once again and on the offensive end, Rosser nailed a pair of free throws and then slipped a pass to Connor Gacek for a trey that gave CPP its lead back at 53-50. Continuing the seesaw nature of the second half, Wallace and Brewer fired in back-to-back treys to pull the Coyotes in front by a margin of 59-55. The first successful shot of that set snapped a four-minute field goal drought for CSUSB.

Facing a 63-57 deficit heading into the final five minutes, the Broncos got a clutch three-pointer from Bryce Brady to make it a one-possession game.

Following an Alexander dunk to push CSUSB's lead to five, Steel contributed a key trey of his own to pull CPP within two. With Rosser dropping in a layup and drawing a foul on the Broncos' next possession, the score was suddenly tied at 66-66. The senior guard missed the free throw though, leaving the tally even heading into the final minute.

After an offensive charge was called on Brown to give the Coyotes the ball and a chance to win the game, Drisdom delivered a block on a three-point attempt from Nate Schulte to send the contest into overtime.

The sharpshooters continued to heat up in the extra period, with an Anderson trey followed by a Wallace three-pointer as CSUSB staked an early 71-69 advantage. A pair of free throws from Fells though evened the score at 71-71 moments later.

With Schulte striking for two free throws of his own, the Broncos needed another counter. A misfire from Steel led to an offensive rebound for Fells, who quickly dished it to Anderson. The junior guard knocked down his second trey of the game, giving CPP the 74-73 edge.

Steel didn't miss the next time down the floor, raising the Broncos' advantage to four points. That was just the beginning stages of a 12-0 CPP run, with an Anderson dunk serving as an exclamation point on a thrilling Broncos' win coming on the road and in overtime against a local rival.

Up next, CPP will challenge UC San Diego in La Jolla Friday with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. The Tritons defeated San Francisco State Thursday.
