POMONA, Calif. –
The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team captured its 12th-straight victory Friday, defeating Humboldt State 74-59 behind a 21-point performance from Reyana Colson.

The Broncos improve to 18-2 overall and 15-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, while the loss drops the Lumberjacks to 12-9 overall and 9-8 through conference play.

Colson came close to a triple-double once again, tallying eight rebounds and seven assists. Several of her teammates nearly tallied double-double performances, with La'kenya Simon West registering 14 points and seven rebounds while Rosslyn Beard totaled eight points and eight rebounds. Megan Ford finished as the game's second-highest scorer with 18 points.

The Broncos' defense held the visiting Jacks to a 32.1-percent shooting night and forced HSU to commit 21 turnovers. Sarah Semenero turned in a strong effort on the defensive end Friday, notching four steals in 37 minutes played, both career highs.

CPP jumped out to an 11-5 advantage early against the Jacks but HSU was able to take a 16-14 lead after Jeanette Dewitt sunk a shot at the 7:47 mark. Starting after that point though, the Broncos awoke for a 7-0 run that was capped off by a Simon West layup. CPP took a 32-25 lead into halftime.

Moving into the second period, the Broncos opened the half on a 7-0 run featuring scoring from Ford and Simon West. The CPP offense didn't let up and the hosts' advantage shot as high as 20 points during the later stages of the contest. The final bucket for the Broncos came from Kaitlin Derby, when she dropped in a layup with 40 seconds to play.

A pair of free throws from Patrice Saindon and a late three-pointer by Kayla Williams pulled the margin from 20 to the final score, 74-59.

Overall, CPP struggled from beyond the arc, going 1-for-11 in that category. The Broncos made up for it though on the offensive glass, grabbing 14 of those rebounds, and causing HSU turnovers left and right.

For the visiting Lumberjacks' offense, Williams ended up as the lone HSU player in double figures with 17 points on 5-for-11 shooting.

Up next, the Broncos will host Sonoma State Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The Seawolves upset Cal State San Bernardino Friday, 50-47. SSU will enter Saturday's contest at 7-14 overall and 5-12 in CCAA play.
