TURLOCK, Calif. - Despite a career-high 35 points from Reyana Colson, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team suffered an 83-80 road loss on Saturday at Cal State Stanislaus. The result snaps the Broncos' 14-game winning streak, the longest continuous stretch of victories for the CPP program since the 2000-01 season.

The final lead gained by the Broncos in Saturday's contest came at the 5:02 mark in the second half, when Megan Ford dropped in a layup to push CPP ahead 70-69. Although the Warriors broke free after that for a 6-0 run, the visiting Broncos didn't back down.

CPP crawled to within one, 81-80, heading into the final minute of regulation. Missed shots from Colson and La'kenya Simon West, along with a turnover by Ford, left CSUS with the three-point upset victory.

It marks just the second Division II loss of the season for the Broncos, who fall to 20-3 overall and 17-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Warriors improve to 13-11 overall and 11-9 through conference play.

The CSUS squad staked an early 12-6 lead after the first five minutes of action Saturday but CPP rallied for a 6-0 run led by the scoring of Colson and Ford. The Warriors stole their advantage back though and maintained it for much of the opening period. A layup from Colson at the first-half buzzer brought the intermission score to 43-43.

Andreanna Marsh led the CSUS attack with 17 points in the first half on 7-for-10 shooting. With the Warriors holding Senior Night Saturday, the fourth-year guard ended up with 25 points on the evening.

With a bit of momentum heading into the second half, the Broncos tallied three-point leads on two different occasions through the first eight minutes after the break. Although CPP shot just 37.7 percent from the field, the Broncos missed just four of their 31 free throw attempts. CPP also forced 21 CSUS turnovers, while committing just seven on offense.

The Warriors' shooters proved to be too tough Saturday though, with CSUS hitting 32 of its 63 chances from the floor (50.8 percent). Theresa Henderson, one of five Warrior players who totaled double figures, gave the hosts the lead for good with a successful jumper with a layup at the 4:45 mark.

Although CSUS pushed its advantage up to seven just minutes later, the Broncos showed plenty of resiliency. CPP cut the margin to one at 1:51 with a Colson layup and then again with a Rosslyn Beard bucket at 1:19, but that was as close as the Broncos could get the rest of the way.

Up next, CPP will travel to play Cal State San Bernardino on the road Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
