POMONA, Calif. - Reyana Colson put together a dazzling double-double performance Friday, leading the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball to its 10th-straight victory with a 71-47 home rout of Cal State L.A.

The senior guard from Compton, Calif., continues build a basketball resume as one of the elite players at the Division II level and her case was clear Friday as she totaled 28 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Colson only needed the first half to reach her double-double marks, with 15 points and 10 boards through the first 20 minutes of play.

"I didn't have my best game on Saturday in San Francisco, so I made sure to come in tonight mentally prepared," she said. "We knew that Cal State L.A. could get hot or cold quickly so we planned to jump on them fast and it worked."

The Broncos push their marks to 16-2 overall and 13-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, while the Golden Eagles fall to 6-13 overall and 3-12 through league play.

CPP posted an impressive defensive effort in the opening period, as the Broncos sprinted out to a 38-13 advantage heading into halftime. It mirrored a contest between CPP and CSULA almost exactly one year ago, when the Broncos held the Golden Eagles to seven points in the first half on Feb. 19, 2010, en route to a 61-41 victory.

Colson scored nine of CPP's first 11 points in Friday's contest and the Broncos held CSULA scoreless between the 13:59 and 7:59 marks. That tough defensive stretch helped CPP pull ahead 19-4 after La'kenya Simon West knocked down a three-pointer.

The Broncos' largest lead came at the 15:35 mark in the second half, when a Colson layup put CPP ahead 51-17. The Golden Eagles rallied late in the contest, bringing the margin down to 16 with 5:45 to play in regulation. That was as close as CSULA could get though.

Rosslyn Beard finished with an all-around solid night, collecting seven points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. J.J. Judge joined Colson in double figures, with 14 points while going 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

Although CPP shot just 37.9 percent from the field, the Broncos' defense held CSULA to a 28.8-percent shooting night and forced 21 turnovers. CPP outrebounded the Golden Eagles, 48-36, with Ford grabbing six while Simon West and Sarah Semenero totaled five each to support Colson's 13 boards.

Up next for the Broncos will be a 5:30 p.m. Saturday contest in Kellogg Gym against Cal State Dominguez Hills.
