Complete 2011 Men's Soccer Schedule
POMONA, Calif. - Carrying a roster rich with experience and depth, the Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team aims to contend for a California Collegiate Athletic Association title during the upcoming 2011 season.
On Monday, the Broncos announced the 2011 schedule. The regular season portion starts on Sept. 2, as CPP competes in a pair of non-conference contests on Labor Day weekend. The two matches against Dixie State and Grand Canyon will be played in Phoenix, Ariz. The Lopes of GCU finished with the top record in the Pacific West Conference during 2010.
The Broncos begin the CCAA schedule on the road in Northern California for games against Cal State East Bay and San Francisco State. The first regular season home match of 2011 for CPP men's soccer will be played on Friday, Sept. 16 with Cal State San Bernardino. That contest starts a six-match homestand, capped off by a Sunday, Oct. 2 matchup against Cal State Dominguez Hills.
The final regular season home contest at Kellogg Field will take place on Sunday, Oct. 16 when Chico State visits Pomona. The Wildcats advanced to the quarterfinal stage of the 2010 NCAA Division II Championships.

Luis Gonzalez, a senior forward from Long Beach, Calif., returns as the top offensive threat for third-year head coach Lance Thompson, who led the Broncos to back-to-back winning seasons in 2009 and 2010 for the first time in program history since 1998 and 1999.
