CARSON, Calif. –  The Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team secured a 2-1 road victory Sunday at Cal State Dominguez Hills, a result that pushes the Broncos' undefeated streak to five games and closes the gap between CPP and the top three teams in the South Division standings.

The fourth-place Broncos hold marks of 5-4-2 overall and 3-4-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). CPP trails third-place Cal State San Bernardino (4-4-1) by two points and second-place Cal State L.A. (4-3-3) by four points.

The CSUSB Coyotes lost to Sonoma State Sunday, while the CSULA Golden Eagles played to a draw with San Francisco State.

On Sunday, the Broncos' defense held the Toros to just two shots on goal. CPP rallied to take a 2-0 lead with two second-half goals before Dominguez Hills got on the board with a score in the 80th minute. That goal for the host Toros broke a 405-minute scoreless streak established by the Broncos.

The Broncos controlled the pace of play in the first half Sunday, outshooting the Toros 10-2 through the opening 45 minutes. CPP also earned three corner kick opportunities while the host CSUDH squad didn't get any of those set piece chances.

Cindy Paez, Veronica Ramos, Alison Sauve and Aneska Alino contributed shots on goal in the first period but Toros' netminder Tiffany Hollis managed to come through with the four stops to keep the score at 0-0.

The Broncos broke through for their first score in the 60th minute when Megan Kisslan initiated the play with a long cross into the box. The pass found Kaelyn Kaichi, who sent a one-touch shot low past the keeper for her first career goal as a Bronco. The assist also marked the first career point for Kisslan, a freshman out of Anaheim.

Just seven minutes later, Ramos and Sauve combined with some splendid playmaking to earn a two-on-one chance against Hollis. Sauve converted the opportunity, placing a one-touch shot into the open net to extend CPP's edge to 2-0.

The Toros' Molly Brennan tallied a goal at the 79:25 mark to trim the lead to 2-1 but it proved to be too little and too late for the host squad. In the end, the Broncos finished with a 15-7 shot advantage through the 90 minutes of play.

CPP will continue this stretch of road matches with games at Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus next weekend. The Warriors of CSUS, who will host the Broncos on Sunday, are ranked eighth nationally at the Division II level.
