Anderson tallied the sixth double-double performance of his career as he collected 18 points and 11 rebounds. He also moved into sole possession of eighth place on the program's
all-time scoring list.
Terrence Drisdom and
DeRonn Scott joined Anderson in double figures Saturday with point totals of 14 and 11 respectively. Drisdom and Scott also combined for 13 rebounds as CPP finished with a crucial 42-28 edge on the boards.
Kamansky's milestone win puts the first-place Broncos at 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). CPP owns a record of 250-107 through the 13-year tenure of Kamansky, the program's leader in winning percentage.
With Saturday's result, the Broncos sweep the regular season series from the Jacks for just the second time since Humboldt entered the CCAA in 2006-07. The Jacks ended CPP's season last year in the semifinal round of the conference tournament.
Tensions rose between the two teams late in Saturday's game as four players were ejected for fighting at the 7:48 mark in the second half. From the Broncos' side,
Mohamed Fall and
Shannon Sharpe were removed the game and the officials also ejected the Jacks' Deaundry Robinson and Darren Turpin.
The two squads played even through the majority of the first half, trading baskets for the most part until the Broncos seized a bit of momentum late in the period.
After entering seven occasions of a tie score in the first 15 minutes of action, a three-pointer from Anderson along the right side of the arc allowed CPP to take a 25-22 lead at the 4:50 mark. That basket initiated a 11-3 run for the Broncos heading into the break.
Drisdom also helped CPP stage that late first-half rally as he scored four of the team's final six points of the period.
Although the Broncos went just 3-for-13 from three-point range in the opening half, the hosts made up for it with a sizeable 21-13 edge in rebounding. The halftime score settled at 33-25 in favor of CPP.
Early in the second half, the Broncos picked up right where they had left off. Anderson collected a steal on the opening possession and on the other end, Sharpe dropped in a layup to give CPP its largest lead of the game at 35-25.
Jacks' sophomore guard Brandon Woods lifted the visitors' offense, knocking down a pair of three-point shots in the midst of an 8-3 run for HSU. The second of those two attempts from Woods came in front of the Jacks' bench, bringing the visiting fans to their feet and forcing the Broncos to call a timeout with the lead at just three - 45-42.
That three-point margin would be as close as HSU would get in the second half as CPP promptly embarked on a 10-0 run. After shooting 23.1 percent from beyond the arc in the first half, the Broncos stepped up their shooting at the right time in the closing period.
Drisdom knocked down a free throw at 7:28 to push CPP's edge to double digits and on the next possession, he followed with a three-pointer to cap off the host's run. In the end, the Broncos outscored the Jacks 36-22 in the second half.
For the second-straight season, CPP has started its campaign 8-0 and now the team will break for the holidays before shifting its focus to a Jan. 3 home game against UC San Diego. Tipoff against the Tritons is set for 7:30 p.m.
