WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Mitchel Anderson of the eighth-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 10 through Dec. 16, conference officials announced Monday.

Anderson recorded his sixth career double-double performance Saturday, collecting 18 points and 11 rebounds to guide the Broncos to a 69-47 win over Humboldt State. The 22-point result represents the most lopsided spread in the 26-game all-time series between the two squads. To watch video highlights of Saturday's game at Kellogg Gym, click here.

The victory also marked career win No. 250 for Broncos' head coach Greg Kamansky, the program leader in winning percentage. Anderson also moved his name upward in the record book Saturday, sliding into the No. 8 spot in career points at 1,126 and rising to third in three-point field goals made with 147.

Excelling in creating chances for his teammates against the Jacks, Anderson picked up six assists to match his career high. So far in 2012-13, his assist to turnover ratio of 3.5 ranks 15th at the Division II level. On the opposite end of the court, he has helped the Broncos limit opponents to 53.9 points per game this season. That puts CPP No. 1 nationally in defense.

Monday's announcement of the weekly honor marks the third time in Anderson's career that he has received the accolade. After the holiday break, the Broncos will return to action on Jan. 3 with a 7:30 p.m. home game against UC San Diego.
