POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona's Kevin Bosson is becoming unbeatable at just the right time.

The right-hander hurler tossed his second-consecutive complete-game performance Saturday to lead the Broncos to a 4-2 win over Cal State Stanislaus.

Although CPP started out the day in sixth place, the Broncos have now passed this week's opponent - the Warriors - to take over the No. 5 spot in the conference standings. CPP holds marks of 24-13 overall and 16-13 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The top four teams advance into the league tournament at the conclusion of the regular season.

Despite the CPP defense committing three errors Saturday, the Broncos' offense provided enough support for Bosson to pull out the two-run victory. Junior outfielder Donald Walter paced the attack with four hits, marking the second time this year he's reached that total in a single game.

Bosson improved to 3-4 with the outing as he allowed four hits and struck out seven. The Claremont, Calif., native didn't issue any free passes and the two visitor scores proved to be unearned. At one point, Bosson retired 13-straight hitters through the middle innings.

The early runs for CPP held up with the Broncos staking a 4-0 advantage before the Warriors made things interesting by getting on the board for two scores in the ninth.

The Broncos rallied for two scores in the bottom of the second after Joseph Eusebio, Chris Miller and Jordan Whitman opened the frame with three-straight hits. CSUS right-handed starter Byron Lemon allowed four hits in that inning. CPP pushed its edge to 3-0 when Walter singled in Chris Curtis.

Another Broncos' insurance run came in the seventh after Eusebio lined a single into center that allowed Walter to cross home. After collecting just two hits through the first eight innings, the Warriors rallied for two more in the ninth. With a runner at third and two outs, Bosson struck out pinch hitter Andy Yingling to end the contest.

Lemon's record settles at 3-4 after going 6.2 innings Saturday and giving up 11 hits that led to the four earned runs. Right-hander Andrew Graham provided 1.1 scoreless innings in relief for the visiting CSUS squad.

The two teams will resume their series with a Sunday doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
