POMONA, Calif. - The shuffling in the conference standings continued for many teams Sunday but with a doubleheader split against Cal State Stanislaus at Scolinos Field, the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team remains at the No. 5 spot.

The Broncos trail Chico State and Sonoma State - the two teams tied for third at 16-12 - by just .023 percentage points. CPP holds a 17-14 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Senior right-hander Geoff Broussard suffered his first loss of 2012 Sunday despite throwing a complete-game effort and allowing just one run. Warriors' starter Rafael Vasquez narrowly outdueled Broussard as the visiting hurler totaled 8.1 scoreless innings with CSUS securing a 1-0 victory.

The Broncos' offense awoke in the second game and put together a two-out rally during the third frame that brought in five runs. CPP finished that contest with a 7-2 win to salvage the doubleheader split.

Allen Rodarte, an Anaheim, Calif., native tossed 6.1 solid innings to pick up his fourth win of the year and senior first baseman Chris Miller launched an opposite-field grand slam to lift the host's offense.

The two teams will conclude their four-game series on Monday with a single nine-inning game starting at 11 a.m.

Game One: Warriors 1, Broncos 0

The Broncos managed just two hits in the first game as Vasquez kept the hosts in check through most of the contest. The junior righthander finished with four strikeouts through the 8.1 innings he threw.

CPP went hitless from the start of the fifth inning through till the final at-bat, a strikeout by Warriors' reliever Anthony Gotelli to conclude the 1-0 win for the visitors.

The Warriors got the lone run of the game in the top of the fifth, when D.J. Arellano lined a single into left field that brought Craig Beevers home.

Broussard totaled seven strikeouts as Sunday's start marked the first of 2012 where he did not record a victory. He currently ranks second nationally in wins with nine.

Game Two: Broncos 7, Warriors 2

The Broncos' attack awoke in the second game Sunday, getting on the board during the second inning after two-straight hitters - Joseph Eusebio and Miller - reached base to start the frame. A ground-ball out allowed Eusebio to cross the plate and give CPP the early 1-0 lead.

After the Broncos began the bottom of the third with two fly outs, CPP then put together an impressive two-out rally. Eight-straight hitters reached base and the Broncos batted around, a stretch that included the grand slam from Miller.

Although the Broncos provided plenty of run support, Rodarte didn't need much. The senior righty took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Colton Beatty lined a 1-2 pitch through the right side to break it up. Rodarte finished with seven strikeouts while allowing two scores, one of which was unearned.

Miller finished 3-for-4 at the plate in game two and Jordan Whitman contributed a 2-for-4 effort with a run scored.
