HAYWARD, Calif. - Behind two more complete-game performances from the starting rotation and a seven-hit day from Mike Santora, the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team picked up a doubleheader sweep Saturday to move into fourth place in the conference standings.

Erick Ruvalcaba and Kevin Bosson starred on the mound for the Broncos while CPP got production from its entire lineup. Santora went 7-for-9 at the plate while other key hits came from Nicholas Cooksey, Chris Miller, Joseph Eusebio and Donald Walter.

The fourth-place Broncos now hold marks of 30-18 overall and 22-17 (.564) in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

Cal State San Bernardino is directly above CPP in the standings at 21-14 (.600) while Cal State Stanislaus holds fifth place at 19-15 (.559). The top four squads will advance into the CCAA Tournament.

The Broncos and Pioneers will conclude their series on Sunday with a nine-inning game starting at 11 a.m. It marks the final regular season game for CPP as the Broncos have a bye week coming up as the rest of the conference teams will be in action.

Game One: Broncos 5, Pioneers 0
Ruvalcaba delivered a tremendous outing for CPP in game one, scattering seven hits as all seven came as singles. The junior righthander pitched to contact while finishing with two strikeouts through the nine-inning performance.

The Broncos' offense gave Ruvalcaba plenty of run support and ended up getting all five of their runs in two-out situations.

The first rally for CPP came in the third after Cooksey opened the inning with a double. After Walter and Torres drew back-to-back walks with two outs, Eusebio and Miller followed with clutch singles.

In the top of the fourth, Santora delivered a two-out single that allowed Chris Curtis to race home. Santora finished with a 4-for-5 effort at the plate in game two to pace the Broncos' attack. All five of CPP's scores came against Pioneers' starting right-hander Brandyn Bell, who tossed a complete-game shutout in 2011 at Scolinos Field.

The shutout allows Ruvalcaba to remain in third among CCAA pitchers for wins with seven. Saturday marked career start No. 31 for the Whittier native.

Game Two: Broncos 6, Pioneers 3
The Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two scores in the first inning. Brett Hall led off with a single and Jordan Wilder provided a double later in the frame as CSUEB was helped by an error by Broncos' junior right-hander Kevin Bosson.

CPP trimmed the margin to 2-1 in the top of the third when Santora knocked a one-out single to bring in Cooksey. The Pioneers bumped their advantage to 3-1 in the fourth after a throwing error from Santora allowed Bryson Nakamura to race around to score.

The Broncos put together a clutch rally in the top of the fifth after Cooksey initiated it once again with another double. Santora provided another RBI single and Walter knocked a game-tying double into the left-center gap. CSUEB reliever Zachary Wong replaced starter A.J. Gallardo and stopped the rally with an inning-ending strikeout with the bases loaded.

CPP wasn't done yet as the visitors put up three more runs in the sixth. Yet again, Cooksey served as the catalyst when he drew a one-out walk. Curtis followed with a walk and later in the inning, Santora and Walter knocked back-to-back two-out doubles to put the Broncos in front, 6-3.

Meanwhile, Bosson showed great composure through the final innings. He allowed just one baserunner through the fifth, sixth and seventh frames. The Claremont native improves to 4-5 on the season after tossing his fourth complete game of the year Saturday.
