Monday, April 30 UPDATE: The
California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) teams with the top four conference winning percentages will advance to the CCAA Tournament to be held May 10-12 at UC San Diego. Cal Poly Pomona (23-17, .575) holds fourth place currently and enters a bye week while most of the other conference squads still have regular season games left to play.
Cal State L.A. (21-17, .553) is now out of contention for the fourth spot after splitting a Monday doubleheader with Cal State East Bay. Aside from the Broncos, the only other team threatening to take the fourth playoff spot is Sonoma State (20-16, .556).
To advance, the Broncos need Sonoma to record a total of two or fewer wins in this weekend's four-game series against Cal State Monterey Bay. The Seawolves and Otters start the series on Friday with a 3 p.m. game and continue it Saturday with an 11 a.m. doubleheader. The series finale will start at 11 a.m. Sunday. Live stats for the series can be accessed
here and the live audio is linked
here. If the Seawolves win three games this week, they'd tie CPP at 23-17 and move on based on the head-to-head tiebreaker.

HAYWARD, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team couldn't have ended the regular season on a better note. Now, the Broncos will just have to wait to see if a spot in the playoffs becomes a reality.
The visiting CPP squad batted around twice Sunday en route to a 16-3 rout over Cal State East Bay that concluded the four-game sweep for the Broncos. It marked the first four-game road conference sweep for CPP since 2007. Leading the way on offense were
Jordan Whitman and Nicholas Cooksey, who collected four hits apiece.
The series sweep results in CPP finishing the regular season at 31-18 overall and 23-17 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). It marks a one-win improvement from the 2011 conference campaign that ended at 22-18.
The Broncos' offense got started early Sunday against the Pioneers with Santora initating a first-inning rally by knocking a leadoff single. Three CSUEB errors in that frame helped CPP along while
Chris Miller and Whitman delivered clutch two-out hits to put the visitors ahead 3-0.
Santora came through once again in the second, lining a double to centerfield that allowed
Chris Curtis to score. Curtis had gotten on base with a leadoff walk.
The Pioneers got on the board in the bottom of the fourth after Kyle Zozaya worked a one-out walk to reach base. Junior rightfielder Charlie Sharrer stepped to the plate with two outs and delivered, hammering a 1-2 pitch over the leftfield fence to trim the CPP lead to 4-2.
The CSUEB momentum didn't last long though as the Broncos batted around in the fifth for five runs, four of which came with two outs.
Jenzen Torres opened the inning with a single and later in the frame, Miller and Whitman reached base on one-out walks.
A two-run double came from Cooksey, who had knocked his first career triple one inning earlier. Curtis stepped to the plate next and sent a three-bagger down the rightfield line to extend the CPP rally.
The Broncos continued to pile on the runs as they tacked on five more scores in the sixth while batting around for the second-straight inning.
Mike Philp, who turned 19 on Sunday, collected his first hit in the frame while Whitman knocked a two-run homer over the leftfield fence as part of the rally. It marked the fifth homerun for Whitman in 2012.
The hit parade continued for the Broncos in the ninth as they scored two more times and finished with 18 hits on the day. Each of CPP's 10 players that came to bat Sunday contributed at least one hit each.
CPP senior right-hander
Allen Rodarte worked effectively Sunday in his fourth-career start on the mound. The Anaheim native threw six innings while allowing five hits and just two earned runs. With the stellar outing, Rodarte improved his 2012 record to 5-2.
