POMONA, Calif. - For the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer program, 10 student-athletes were honored during the 2011 Senior Day celebration. Although the 2012 roster will only feature six seniors, the group of veteran newcomers that head coach Isabelle Harvey announced Tuesday brings added depth to the Broncos.

"This is a group of student-athletes that will bring a lot of experience to our roster," Harvey said. "We think the chemistry and attitude of these veterans will be a good fit with our current players."

The six veteran newcomers include one senior, four juniors and a sophomore. Five of the six play out of the midfield position. The 10 Broncos entering their freshman seasons will be introduced Thursday on BroncoAthletics.com. The first official 2012 match for CPP will be on Aug. 30 at Point Loma Nazarene.

Megan Baum
Junior | Midfielder | Apple Valley, Calif. | Victor Valley Community College

A true student-athlete, Megan Baum has maintained a 4.0 grade point average through her time at Sultana High School and Victor Valley Community College. In 2009 and 2010, she guided the Sultana girls' soccer team to back-to-back CIF championships. Baum was named the Athlete of the Year for both the school and the league.

While at Victor Valley, Baum earned a nomination for the Academic All-State Award. She's planning on studying Kinesiology once at CPP and aspires to pursue a doctorate degree in physical therapy. Baum has a family connection to a conference rival, as her cousin Cassidy Mangum played volleyball at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Tatiana Cortes
Junior | Midfielder | La Mirada, Calif. | Cerritos College

After graduating from La Mirada High School in 2009, Tatiana Cortes spent two seasons at Cerritos College. She proved to be a consistent force in the Falcons' lineup and finished as a two-time All-South Coast Conference First Team selection. In 2011, Cortes helped Cerritos reach the state tournament for the third time in four years.

During her time at La Mirada High, Cortes starred in soccer, track and field and cross country. She guided the girls' soccer squad to a CIF championship in 2008 and completed her high school career as a four-time Scholar Athlete.

During her two seasons at Saddleback College, Kaelyn Kaichi totaled 15 goals and four assists. As a freshman in 2010, she matched the school record for most goals in a season with 12 and earned All-Orange Empire Conference First Team honors. Kaichi also received selection as Saddleback's Most Valuable Offensive Player in both 2010 and 2011. She also excelled academically, collecting Dean's List and Scholar Baller accolades.

A speedy midfielder, Arika Ontiveros is transferring from Cal State Northridge to join the Broncos. During the 2011 season, Ontiveros appeared in two games while the Matadors of CSUN went 7-10-2 overall and 4-3-1 in Big West Conference play.
