POMONA, Calif. –  The Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team once again encountered trouble getting the offense going Sunday, dropping a 1-0 home loss to Cal State San Bernardino Sunday.

It marked the fourth-straight 1-0 defeat dealt to the Broncos, who now hold records of 2-4-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The visiting Coyotes stay undefeated at 3-0-5 overall and 3-0-3 through conference play.

The CPP defense held tough Sunday, with senior goalkeeper Kris Minton contributing six saves and the starting backline of Liam Hall, Christopher Rosales, Justyn Peeples and Tyler Swobe playing the full 90 minutes.

The Coyotes broke through in the 55th minute when passes from Anthony Arellano and Corey Crist set up Leo Mendoza with an opportunity just inside the top center of the 18-yard box. After a quick dribble, Mendoz lined a shot into the corner of the net for what proved to be the game-winning score.

The Broncos earned eight corner kick opportunities in the match, including four in a four-minute span during the early stages of the first half. Through those first 45 minutes though, CSUSB outshot the host squad 9-1.

CPP stepped up its offensive pressure in the second half, especially after the Coyotes broke through with the score at the 54:30 mark. Senior midfielder David Carrillo led the Broncos in shot attempts, taking four and putting one on goal.

The Broncos will return to action Friday with a 12:30 p.m. home match against Cal State Monterey Bay.
