CPP vs CSUMB 3
Box Score | SEASIDE, Calif. - With Terrence Drisdom delivering another top-notch performance Friday, the ninth-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team cruised to a 68-50 road win over Cal State Monterey Bay.

With the Broncos improving to 6-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and Cal State San Bernardino falling to Cal State Stanislaus at home, CPP is now tied with the Coyotes atop the conference standings.

Drisdom totaled 23 points as he set a new career high in that category for the third-straight game. As usual, he made an impact in many other areas of the game and finished with six rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

The CPP defense stayed active all game, forcing 25 turnovers from the Otters and collecting 36 points off those lost CSUMB possessions. DeRonn Scott also played well offensively as he joined Drisdom in double figures with 13 points on 5-for-10 shooting.

The Broncos' offense struggled early in the first half and ended up just 2-for-11 from three-point range through the first 20 minutes.

The host CSUMB squad took advantage, staking an early 15-6 lead after a pair of Kevin Loustale free throws at the 11:24 mark. That capped off a 5-0 run for the Otters but that scoring stretch was snapped by a three-point play from Broncos' freshman Jordan Faison.

That lifted the energy of the CPP squad and after a turnover on the next Otters' possession, Mitchel Anderson fired in a three-pointer to trim the difference to just three. An Anderson trey at the 8:27 mark gave the Broncos an 18-17 lead and the visitors didn't relinquish the advantage for the remainder of the game.

Drisdom contributed key minutes late in the first half as CPP started to build its momentum. The junior guard from Corona tallied eight points in the final seven minutes of the period, helping the Broncos take a 31-23 edge into the break.

Moving into the second half of play Friday, CPP picked up right where it left off. The Broncos started the second half on a 12-4 run as Anderson and DeRonn Scott found their rhythm offensively to join Drisdom in leading the Broncos' attack. The CPP lead pushed as high as 23 points with 2:51 to play before finally settling at the 18-point difference at the final buzzer.

Bryce Brady and Barry Bell ended up playing 30 minutes apiece while Bell recorded a season-high two blocks. Faison totaled eight points in 14 minutes of action before fouling out for the second-straight game.

CPP will return to action Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. contest at Cal State East Bay.
