CPP vs CSUDH
Box Score | CARSON, Calif. - The sixth-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team limited Cal State Dominguez Hills to 13 first-half points Friday and held off a late Toros' rally to secure a 57-47 road win.

At 14-1 overall and 10-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the Broncos remain in first place in the conference standings. Second-place Cal State San Bernardino (9-2) topped Sonoma State Friday, 78-71, to keep pace with CPP.

The Broncos will now shift their focus to Saturday's 7:30 p.m. against third-place Cal State L.A. (7-4) at the Eagles' Nest.

Terrence Drisdom led the CPP offense Friday as he scored 20 points on 5-for-9 shooting. The Corona native went 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

In taking a 23-13 lead into halftime, the Broncos' defense held the Toros to a 3-for-20 effort from the field through the first 20 minutes. The 13 points marked the lowest amount for a CPP opponent in a half so far this season.

Both teams' offenses started slow Friday as the Broncos held a 9-6 lead with more than six minutes played. CPP steadily built up a bigger advantage and a three-pointer from Drisdom at the 1:43 mark proved to be the final basket of the half, giving the Broncos a 23-13 edge.

The CPP defense managed to hold the Toros to zero field goals through a stretch of more than 14 minutes, stretching from the nine-minute mark in the first half to 14:38 left in the second half.

The Broncos ended up forcing 20 turnovers from Dominguez, including a pair of shot clock violations. Clutch plays from the Toros' Lamine Diame and Alex Strauther helped the hosts stage a tremendous second-half rally as a three-point play by Deshaun Freeman even put Dominguez up 45-42 with 3:25 to play.

CPP closed out the contest on a 15-2 run though with key three-point plays coming from DeRonn Scott shooting from beyond the arc and Jordan Faison dropping in a tough layup before drawing contact and sinking a free throw. As Dominguez started to foul, Drisdom's perfect performance at the free throw line helped the Broncos pull away for the 10-point victory.

Scott finished 5-for-6 at the free throw line as he and Faison combined for 19 points off the CPP bench. The Broncos battled foul trouble much of Friday's game as Scott and Faison ended up with four fouls apiece while Mohamed Fall fouled out with six minutes remaining in regulation.
