Box Score | POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team ended its 2013 season on a high note as the Broncos topped Cal State Dominguez Hills 1-0 on Senior Day at Kellogg Field.

The shutout dropped CPP's goals against average to 0.85, which now stands as the program record. The 1998 squad had the previous mark at 0.94.

"It was great to send off the five seniors with an exciting win," head coach Yossi Raz. "They contributed a lot to the program throughout the season as they mentored the younger players. They laid down a foundation that we can build on for years to come."

With an assist from fellow fourth-year Brandon Cortez, Jesus Mitre knocked in Sunday's eventual game-winning goal in the 14th minute.

Senior defender Tyler Swobe and Christopher Rosales helped keep the pressure off fourth-year goalkeeper Andrew Todd, who notched a save and finished with his eighth career shutout while setting the individual program record for single-season goals against average at 0.83.

By holding the Toros scoreless through the 90 minutes of action, the Broncos joined Cal State L.A. as the only two teams to post a shutout on Dominguez Hills this year.

It turned out to be a perfect farewell for those five seniors, who have accomplished a lot at CPP academically and athletically. The win pushed the Broncos' overall mark to .500 at 7-7-4 - a four-win improvement from last season - while CPP completed the 2013 conference schedule at 5-7-4.

This victory ranks right up there with the home defeat of Sonoma State in September. Entering this week, Dominguez Hills held the No. 6 ranking in the West Region.

The difference maker proved to be the Mitre goal at the 13:34 mark. With Michael Torres sending a pass upfield along the left side, Cortez received the ball and turned toward the goal to fire a cross into the box. Mitre, playing in his 48th and final game as a Bronco, charged in at the far post and lined it past Toros' netminder Markus Dickerson.

Daniel Garcia Jr. helped generate a few more scoring chances for the Broncos in the second half. Although CPP couldn't come up with an insurance goal, the host squad's defense held tough and kept Dominguez off the board.
