Box Score | POMONA, Calif. - A back-and-forth game Thursday between Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State East Bay ended in disappointing fashion for the Broncos as the Pioneers escaped with a 52-50 win at Kellogg Gym.

Trailing by one point with under 10 seconds to play, a shot from Mian Dingle rolled off the rim and into the hands of the Pioneers. After a free throw pushed the lead to two, a last-chance three-point heave from Ashley Boggs fell off the mark and the buzzer sounded.

It marks the fourth-straight loss for the Broncos, who fall to 11-10 overall and 9-8 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). East Bay, carrying a six-game win streak, moves ahead of CPP in the standings after Thursday's road victory for the Pioneers.

Dingle, a sophomore guard from Pasadena, put together her best home performance so far in 2012-13, collecting 16 points for the Broncos on 7-for-12 shooting in Thursday's loss.

The game featured seven occasions of a tie score and four lead changes. CPP held a 41-36 with just more than seven minutes to play in regulation. The Pioneers then reeled off a 9-0 run and that spurt included six points from Brianna Terrance, who finished with 16 points on 8-for-13 shooting Thursday.

Right around the one-minute mark, the Broncos managed to score five points on one trip down the floor. Dingle dropped in a layup and drew contact, which was followed by a free throw miss and an offensive board for Boggs.

Sophomore guard Lauren Goecke then capitalized on the second-chance opportunity with an old-school three-point play off another layup and successful free throw. That brought the Pioneers' lead down to 51-50 but CPP couldn't get the go-ahead basket that they needed to pull off the comeback victory.

Boggs joined Dingle in double figures with 11 points on her own as she went 5-for-6 at the free throw line. Goecke turned in a stellar all-around performance, with seven rebounds and four steals to go along with six points.

The Broncos will return to action Saturday with a 5:30 p.m. home game against Cal State Monterey Bay.
