Box Score | ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team put together one of its top defensive performances of the year Saturday, holding Sonoma State to a 2-for-19 three-point effort en route to picking up a 52-43 victory.

Having gone 2-0 this week on a road trip to Northern California, the Broncos have clinched a spot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament that will start on Tuesday, March 5 at campus sites. The semifinal and final rounds will be played at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9.

Now at 13-11 overall and 11-9 in CCAA play, CPP continues to hold sixth place in the conference standings. The Broncos will return home for their final two regular season games, the first one on Wednesday against Cal State L.A. on Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night and the second on Friday for Senior Night and First Friday against Cal State Dominguez Hills.

In somewhat of a homecoming Saturday for Ashley Boggs, the Petaluma native recorded her fifth double-double effort of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds. She also added two steals in 35 minutes of action.

The Broncos' defense forced 17 turnovers from the Seawolves and held the host squad to 32.1-percent shooting. The Sonoma starters went 0-for-9 from beyond the arc as the Seawolves' three-game winning streak came to an end.

Points were certainly hard to come by in the opening half as CPP took a 19-11 edge into the break. Boggs proved to be a key contributor through the opening 20 minutes as he nearly reached the double-double totals in that span.

The Broncos pushed their lead into double digits early in the second half, starting the period on a 7-0 run that began with a J.J. Judge layup and continued with a three-pointer by Lauren Goecke. Cydnie Jones capped off the rally with a layup at the 18:15 mark to give CPP a 26-11 advantage.

Sophomore guard Mian Dingle found her rhythm offensively, helping the Broncos sustain that double-digit lead through the first half of the closing period. Dingle, a Pasadena native, ended with 13 points, six rebounds and career-high four steals in the win.

The Seawolves made a last-minute 5-0 run behind a three from Tanner Adams and a layup by Taylor Acosta but the Broncos got clutch free throws from Jones and Rachel Hatch to secure the nine-point win.
